DONALD STRAIT

 

 

Donald Strait was to become the top scorer of the 356th Fighter Group. Gaining his wings in 1944  he was posted to England, flying the P-47 he took part in long range bomber escorts and ground support sorties. Later in the War he switched to the P-51 Mustang and would score 10 victories in this. After two combat tours Strait had flown 122 missions. After World War II Strait commanded fighters in Korea. Donald Strait finished World War II with 13 victories.
