John B. England

 

 

John England was born in Missouri on the 15th of January 1923. He entered the United States Army Air Force Aviation Cadet program and graduated from pilot training on the 10th of March 1943, he was then assigned to the 362nd Fighter Squadron of the 357th Fighter Group. England flew the P-51 Mustang throughout his Wartime career, staying with the Air force until well after World War II, he was commanding a fighter bomber squadron in France when on a final approach to land the engine of his F-86 failed, rather than crash into barracks England managed to veer his stricken aircraft off to the side and he crashed to his death. John England finished World War II with 17 victories.
