William Whisner

 

 

 

William Whisner was born in 1923, he left college to enter the U.S. Army Air corps in March 1942 and he graduated from flight school on the 16th of February 1943. Whisner was assigned to the 487th Fighter Squadron of the 352nd Fighter Group he flew two combat tours with this group flying one P-47 and two P-51s. Whisner flew as wingman for George Preddy and it is said that this is where he learned his trade. After the War Whisner saw action over Korea where he downed two MIG 15s. William Whisner finished World War II with 15.5 victories
