Burdicks father was an Ace in the First World War with 8 victories, so you could say that flying was in the blood of this family. Burdick signed up for service shortly after his 18th birthday. On completion of his pilot training he was shipped to England, where he was attached to the 361st FS of the 356th Fighter Group. Burdick flew his first combat mission in November 1944, he scored his first victory on the 25th of that same month. Burdick scored his last victory of the War on the 20th of February 1945. Clinton Dewitt Burdick finished the War with 6 victories.
