Emil Omert was born on the 1st of January 1918, a natural pilot Emil saw action over the Balkens and Russia he scored his first victory over Yugoslavia. Omert was said to have been a strafing expert he is credited with 25 victories on the ground. Awarded the Ritterkreuz on the 19th of March 1942 for his 40th victory. During a raid by US bombers on the oil fields of Ploesti on the 24th of April 1944 Omert's aircraft was hit, he bailed out only to be killed by gunners as he floated to earth in his parachute. Omert finished the War with 70 ariel victories, 25 on the ground and even a Soviet torpedo boat. |
