HILMER VON BULOW BOTHKAMP

ACE OF FIRST WORLD WAR & SECOND

 

 

Von Bulow first saw action as a Leutnant in the Imperial Air Service during the First World War where he scored six victories.   Kommodore of JG2 by 1940 he led this unit in the Battle of France and the early stages of the Battle Of Britain. Von Bulow was born in 1897 and at the age of 42 he was defeating men young enough to be his sons. on Bulow was awarded the Ritterkreuz,  and for  a while he commanded NJG 101 a night fighter unit. By the Wars end he was commander  of Jagdfuhrer 4 directing his fighters against the Allied bombers.
