Peter Wickham was born in Kenya in 1918. Educated in England he entered RAF Cranwell, he was commissioned in 1938 and then posted to No 3 Sqn. Cranwell flew with 112 Sqn in the Middle East fighting the Italians he saw a lot of action in this theatre. Posted to 33 Sqn he was transferred to Greece in April 1941 then onto Egypt. He returned to England where he joined 111 Sqn, he was promoted to command 131 Sqn. In April 1943 he took command of 122 Sqn until the end of that year, he also flew on an attachment to the U.S. Fourth Fighter Group. Wing Commander Peter Wickham finished the War with 10 victories |
