Ray 'Sheuy' Wetmore was born on the 30th of September 1923 in California. He entered the US Army Air Core in 1941 and became an aviation cadet in 1942, he graduated from flight training in March of 1943 and was assigned to the 370th Fighter Squadron of the 359th Fighter Group. Wetmore would fly two combat tours with this group firstly flying a P-47 and then onto Mustangs. Wetmore reached the rank of a Major in July of 1945 he was killed in a flying accident in 1951. Ray Wetmore finished the War with 21 victories. |
