WOLF DIETRICH HUY

 

 

 

 

Wolf Dietrich Huy was born on the 2nd of August 1917, he was to start his Military service as a Naval Officer and joined III/JG 77 on the 1st of July 1939 as a Oberleutnant. Huy scored his first two victories during the Dunkirk evacuation. During the Crete campaign, Huy damaged and sank several ships including a British cruiser and a battleship. He was awarded the Ritterkreuz on the 5th of July 1941 for his 22nd victory. On the 29th of October 1942 Huy was shot down by spitfires over North Africa he survived the crash and spent the rest of the War as a POW. Huy flew over 500 missions scoring 40 victories and considerable Naval damage.
